Most folks who raise birds know where to find a good Avian Veterinarian. Birds clubs are a great place to meet large numbers
of bird keepers in one place! These knowledgeable folks will be able to head you in the right direction and recommend an
avian vet in your local area!

Not all folks get their birds from a breeder. They may get them from a pet store, or even a close friend that had the
unexpected pleasure of a successful clutch of birds. Chances are that pet store or the friend will have an idea about whom
you can contact in regards to avian medicine! The bird world is very small...you never know what you'll find out until you ask!

Most breeders will have a pretty good idea of where to find an experienced avian veterinarian. Be sure to keep a list of
questions regarding your birds - put this question on it! Call your breeder and ask away! They should be more than happy
to answer all of your questions!

If you own other animals, chances are you already have a veterinarian you know and trust. Ask them if they have any contacts with an avian vet.
Most will be more than willing to give you a list of qualified veterinarians in your area. Just remember, there are far fewer avian specialists than
there are mammal and small animal vets. You may have to travel a bit farther to get quality service!
