Our Friends & Readers Birds
Our good friend Ed acquired his birds from Meadowlark Farms and has housed them in this gorgeous
aviary surrounded by plants and water features.  His careful planning has brought the sounds of the wild
into his beautiful home.
Gouldian finches can enhance the beauty of your home merely with their presence!  And sometimes,
if we think "outside the cage", we can make them blend in as if they've belonged there all along!
Here we see what it's like to keep Goulds outdoors clear across the world!  Our dear friend Barry in Cape
Town, South Africa has a lovely home and an outdoor aviary to be coveted!  His birds are beautiful and
healthy.  They are outdoors all year round and have adapted well to both the high heat and cooler days of
the year.
Views of Barry's large outdoor flight.  He lives near the ocean, so there is ample air circulation even
though the aviary is walled in on all four sides.  The greenery gives the birds places to hide and forage while offering
them nesting materials.

Not Goulds! Penguins - right out front!
Barry's homestead and the view from his front door.  Can you imagine having penguins right out your front door?  How
wonderful would that be?  Barry has invited us to come visit him in South Africa.  We hope to one day take him up on that offer!

Our friend Mr. Hagen and his son keep their birds outdoors year round in a small walk-in aviary.  The exterior
covers are removed in the spring so the birds can receive full benefit from sun and fresh air.

He is planning to build another aviary soon to house other types of finches!

We are excited to congratulate him on his first set of newly fledged chicks!
